In this retrospective exhibition, “Wait for me, see you again,” Kiku Nakazawa, based on her research, represents her personal and social transition of bereavement and shows new pieces developed at Central Saint Martins.
“Once you blow and let the soap bubble go, it will never come back, and this inspired me visually to see that my memories with my mother are gradually fading away unconsciously. It is painful rather than knowing my mother does not exist anymore,” she mentioned quietly.
Kiku’s current practice explores the ephemerality of memories and the expanded notion of bereavement in relation to individuals and society. The new series, “Soap Bubble Series,” represents the irreversibility of time to express her bereavement.
